21 and 24 May 2019 – time to say goodbye to the puppies

Here it is! Our little darlings have reached the age of eight weeks. Starting today, their new owners have begun taking them to their new homes and it is time for us to say goodbye. :-(( It is almost unbelievable how quickly time flies. It feels like they were just born and now they are heading out into the world. We have tried to give them the best possible care, love and safety for their healthy development and the growth of all their skills. We hope we have succeeded and that they will grow into healthy, beautiful and well-balanced individuals. 

So good luck, and may you bring nothing but joy to your new owners!!!

Albert is staying in Ratíškovice with the Šťastný family – in all the rush, somehow they were forgotten to be captured in a photo – so this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.

18 May 2019 – last time all together

Today the last photo shoot of all the puppies took place. On Tuesday some of them will already be leaving for their new homes. It was not easy at all to keep them together, they are like a bag of fleas. So a group photo of all nine didn’t work out either. 

11 May 2019 – today’s “combat” games

Today the puppies were building up their fitness and testing their strength against each other in the outdoor run. Auntie Aura was keeping an eye on everything. Their mom was very happy to take a break from all of them.

24 April 2019 – one month after birth

Today, four weeks after birth, the puppies have been dewormed for the second time. They are thriving and gaining weight very well – see the weight chart below – all of them weigh around three kilograms. They are smoothly transitioning to solid food – chicken breast, rice, porridge made from puppy kibble – even though Bernadettka is still nursing. With the puppies’ appetite, however, she would no longer be able to keep up on her own. Today the first prospective owners also came to visit and choose their little one. Even though it doesn’t seem like it, in a month some of them will already be in their new homes. Time flies so fast...

10 April 2019 – puppies at fourteen days

Today, 14 days after birth, all the puppies were dewormed for the first time and given a little “manicure”, because their claws were already like tiny needles and were really scratching Bernadetta. They have all opened their eyes now, even though they still cannot see properly. Their appetite is getting bigger and bigger, so supplementary feeding will probably start very soon. 

3 April 2019 - 1st week of the puppies' lives

The puppies have made it through their first week of life. Almost all of them now weigh twice as much as at birth – see below. They seem to be doing wonderfully, Bernadettka is taking exemplary and loving care of them, and the humans are providing all the necessary support in the background – washing, drying, changing the bedding, hygiene, disinfection, supervision during nursing, and so on...

27 March 2019 – birth of puppies – litter "A" 

Today’s date will probably be celebrated like a national holiday :-) After a long series of complications, our breeding dream finally came true and beautiful black puppies were born!

Everything started around eight o’clock in the evening. Bernadettka was agitated, walking back and forth in the whelping box, not knowing what was happening to her, wanting us to be with her. After a while the first contractions appeared and at 8:35 p.m. the first flat-coated girl came into the world. We were a bit nervous, focused on the puppy, so we didn’t even notice whether the placenta came out as well. Only when Berny had eaten it did we know that everything was fine. The other puppies followed at roughly half-hour intervals, with a longer break of about an hour after every two. The last boy saw the light of day at 1:45 a.m. 

Bernadettka deserves enormous praise and admiration. Considering that she was giving birth for the first time at five years of age, she handled everything absolutely perfectly and with great poise! She also immediately started to take exemplary care of the newborn puppies, like a model mother. It is hoped that she will keep this up for the entire time the puppies stay here. All that remains is to wish these little creatures a happy start in life, may they all be healthy, strong and content!!!
